Description:

Aaron Parks Moves to Blue Note for the First Time in 14 Years and Releases a New Album! The third installment of the "Little Big" project! Jazz pianist/composer Aaron Parks made his debut on the prestigious Blue Note label in 2008 with the classic album "Invisible Cinema" and quickly made a name for himself around the world with his delicate melodies and sound-making. Since then, he has continued to produce good works for ECM and other labels, and continues to be at the forefront of the scene. This new album is his second for Blue Note in 14 years and the third in the "Little Big" project he has been working on since 2018. It will be co-produced by Blue Note president Don Was and Parks himself. The project, which borrows its name from John Crowley's novel Little, Big, is based on the concept of seamlessly blending improvised music with all genres, including electronica, hip-hop, and psychedelia, with Parks' signature beautiful melodies and perfect balance of Parks' beautiful melodies and perfectly balanced acoustic/electric sounds create a fantastical world. The band sound, consisting of co-leader Greg Tewey (g), David Ginyard Jr. (b), and JK Kim (ds), who also played on Tomoaki Baba's major label debut "ELECTRIC RIDER," is a must-hear.Of the album, Parks said, "I think there is something about this album that captures the energy of the band in a more raw and candid way. We rarely tried to record a perfect take, but rather played every song a couple of times, trying to capture the best atmosphere possible. It was more like seeing what the band itself would sound like, rather than trying to control the band myself. After I stopped taking myself too seriously, I was able to take the music itself more seriously. Personnel] Aaron Parks (p), Greg Tuohey (g), David Ginyard Jr. (b), Jongkuk Kim (ds)
