Description:
Long-awaited! Alex Marieros, a member of the Azimuths and the funky component of the Azimuths with his impressive bass playing, is back with a new album! From killer samba jazz featuring the vocals of his daughter Sabrina Mariellos to a recording he made with the late Beltrami, there is plenty of funky, spacey groove comfort. This is a must-have for any Azimuth fan! Alex Marieros, who has played with Brazilian greats such as Jorge Ben and Milton Nascimento, as well as with such masters as Mark Murphy, Stevie Wonder, and Chick Corea, has released his new album "TEMPOS FUTUROS" on UK FAROUT! The trio of Beltrami, with his spacy and psychedelic keys, Ivan Conti, who creates original grooves that are sought after in the club and hip-hop scene, and Marieros, who has successfully blended Brazilian music elements such as samba with funk elements of Azimuth by combining impressive riffs, are the three members of this new album. The three have produced miraculous albums by combining their individual personalities. Marielos has continued to be active in the field of Brazilian music, but his last physical release under his own name was "The Wave" in 2009. Therefore, this is his first new album in about 12 years. From composition to recording, the album was made in Marieros' hometown of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, overlooking Guanabara Bay, Rio's beaches, and the majestic green mountains, and was naturally influenced by this scenic environment. On the other hand, there is also a futuristic perspective, like the Niteroi Museum of Contemporary Art, which is reminiscent of the spaceships on the water designed by Oscar Niemeyer, which is exactly what the band Azimuth has expressed throughout its career. Produced by Daniel Mornick. Needless to say, Daniel's father, Bluey, has been a member of Incognito since the 1980s, and the two bands have influenced each other in London and Rio, Brit Funk and Samba Funk. This album offers a glimpse into the relationship between the two, as well as the influences of many funk masters, from Roy Ayers and Ronnie Liston Smith to M'Tume and Weather Report, whom they both cite as their favorites. As a featured artist, saxophonist Sean Kahn, known for his work with Hermeto Pascual, joins the group on "Retrato." Sabrina Marielos, daughter of Marielos and a prolific producer on the FAR OUT label, joins the band for two tracks. The club-jazz samba driven by the cool and refreshing vocals is one of the most killer tunes on this album. The biggest highlight of the album is "Tempos Futuros," which features the late José Joberto Beltrami on keyboard.Originally recorded in 1995 as a demo, the album features Beltrami's Fender Rhodes as the core, Marielos on bass, Beltrami's son Victor Beltrami on drums, and Paulinho Trumpetsch and other greats from the Rio music scene. The result is a samba funk that overflows with exuberance.
