In 1953, Nikolaus Arnoncourt, together with his wife Alice and colleagues from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, founded the Vienna Konzentus Musiks, an ensemble of classical instruments. The Vienna Konzentus Musiks" was founded by Nikolaus Arnoncourt with his wife Alice and his colleagues from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. His ensemble has never pursued a revolution. For decades it played Baroque works on historic instruments, then expanded its repertoire to Classical, Romantic, and 20th century music, conducting the top "modern" orchestras in Europe. Mozart was no innovator, but there is an immense grandeur to his personal style. Anyone who plays his music in a modern orchestra must absolutely explore the original sound characteristics," said Arnoncourt, "and he took to modern instrumental orchestras to wash away all the interpretations that had been painted on by conductors of the past, and he played them in a novel and innovative way. This is the origin of today's new orchestral performance. We must not forget that this is the source of the new orchestral performances of today.This box set focuses on both the period instrument Concentus with the Wiener Konzentus Musiks and his new approach to Mozart with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. *The symphonic sources included here [recorded with the Vienna Concentus Musicus] are the same as those lent to and recorded on the Sony Classical (DHM) release of "Mozart: Early Symphonies (BVCD-38161 / 88883798532:7CD)".
