An ensemble endorsed by Gautier Capuçon A string trio featuring three sisters “Trio Sipniewski” Led by cellist Caroline Sipniowski and supported by Gautier Capuçon, the Trio Sipniowski—a trio of sisters—releases its debut album on the Aparte label. The program is exceptionally diverse and distinctive, featuring Purcell’s “Fantasia,” string trios by Beethoven and Sibelius, and the highly evocative “Cloud Trio” by Saariaho—works the trio has performed since its inception. The Sipniowski Trio was formed in 2016 and consists of three sisters: Magdalena, Anna, and Karolina. In this album, titled Origines, they return to both the origins of the string trio genre and the roots of their own ensemble. As all three are also active in HIP ensembles, they reproduce Purcell’s characteristic intimate sound seamlessly in the string trio format, supported by their expertise in historical performance practice. Beethoven’s works are indispensable for this ensemble and are masterpieces that the trio has continued to perform since its inception. Kaija Saariaho reportedly said, “The string trio is a very appealing formation. Even though we are all fellow string players, it brings out each of our individualities even more.” The string trio Trio Sipniewski themselves say that these words by Särjäho seem to describe them perfectly. Särjäho’s works, which are as delicate as paintings, are also worth noting. APARTE
