Nishigaki Masanobu

Description:

Mystic, melancholist in nature. A lyrical religious person. One who meditates and prophesies. And a figure who loves and is loved by something. The four suites are a Bach figure - recorded live at a concert in the beautiful village of Aspremont, a suburb of Nice in southern France, in the pre-16th century church of St. Jacques. It is a summer evening with a dry wind blowing in front of the Mediterranean Sea. The beautiful stained-glass windows behind the musicians in the church are still glowing, gradually turning into a deep jot-blue and finally fading away. In an atmosphere of simplicity that does not accept musical pretense or pedantry, pleasant Spanish music is played along with the shifting of the light. <Masanobu Nishigaki (guitarist) studied under Henri Drini at the Conservatoire National de Nice in France. He graduated from the Conservatoire de Nice in six months at the top of his class, receiving a unanimous special award from the jury. The following year, he was awarded the Grand Prize of the City of Nice for his recital of the "Aranjuez Concerto" with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra at the Nice Opera House. In Japan, he has premiered many new works by contemporary musicians Toru Takemitsu, Hinoharu Matsumoto, and Norio Fukushi, and has performed chamber music with many renowned musicians, including flutist Maxence Larrieu. As a soloist, he was invited to perform the complete lute suite concerts in England and France in 2000 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Bach's death. He also arranged Bach's "Goldberg Variations" for guitar duet and published it for the first time in the world. In 2002, he composed "Monodrama on the New and Old Japanese Poems" commissioned by York College, England, and premiered it at the National Centre for Ancient Music, England. In 2019, he was invited to give a recital at the World Heritage-listed Sainte-Madeleine Church in Vesleys, France. In 2019, he was invited to give a recital at the World Heritage-listed Sainte Madeleine Church in Vesleys, France. He has been invited to many concerts in Japan and abroad, including the Festival de la Sala Castle in Switzerland, the "Hommage à Nishigaki" concert series in Chile and France, and the 100th anniversary of the Conservatoire National de Nice.
