Description:
Samson Tsoi's debut solo album is a program of Brahms and other giants of the time, linking them together. Samson Tsoi from Kazakhstan, who has already released a duo album with Pavel Kolesnikov, presents his first solo album. Between six pieces arranged for piano by Busoni from the "Collection of 11 Chorale Preludes" for organ, which Brahms wrote on the model of the great Bach, a large piece that the young Brahms wrote based on an eight-bar aria from Handel's Clavusan Suite HWV 434, a piece for left hand only by Brahms, and a piece for piano by Busoni from the "Collection of 11 Chorale Preludes" for organ. Brahms' arrangement of Bach's "Chaconne" for left hand only, and Reger's arrangement of "Four Solemn Songs" for solo piano are also included. Tsouy's technical prowess and introspective sensibility more than bring out the pianistic appeal of these works, while revealing their spiritual connections in a masterful performance. Naxos Japan
