Project Hungarica" is a project led by the three Kuszczowiec brothers from Poland. Their first collection featured works by Roja and Kodály, and now they focus on works by Bartók, Ligeti, and Kurtág. Before World War I, Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the musical characteristics of Hungarian folk music were incorporated into the works of the Viennese Classical and Romantic schools, and the works of Liszt and Brahms became highly popular. In the 20th century, composers succeeded in bringing out the ancient, simple expressions and wild rhythms of folk songs and using them as raw materials to elevate their works to new heights. Bartók's Duet and Ligeti's Sonata for Solo Cello are representative examples of folk music arrangements that use folk melodies from many Eastern European countries. Naxos Japan
