Description:
Opera based on Bjork's hit album! Bjork's fourth original album "Vespertine", released in 2001, was a worldwide smash hit, partly because it came after her breakthrough starring in and providing music for the film "Dancer in the Dark". The album was intertwined with the anecdote of the Greek myth of Uranus and made into an opera, which was performed in Mannheim in 2018 to great acclaim. The album "Vespatine" was originally acclaimed for its beautiful strings and chorus, and these characteristics were used in the opera version, which was orchestrated for acoustic instruments without the industrial beat that characterizes Bjork's work. All of the songs on the album, with the exception of the bonus tracks, have been recorded for the album. All of the album's songs, with the exception of the bonus tracks, are used in the order in which they were recorded, and the lyrics, which are peppered throughout the album with sexual allusions, overlap with the perverse sexual world surrounding Uranos that has been added to the album, expanding the world of the work even more greatly. The scientist in the main cast is played by Korean soprano Ji Yoon, and his doppelganger is played by Japanese soprano Akiki Hashimoto, who is active in Germany, and the entire piece is performed mainly by their duo. The Illuminated Man, played by American baritone Raymond Ayers, is an integral part of the screen on which the various images are projected. Other objects such as clouds, stones, and landscapes are also personified, creating a unique and mysterious stage. Naxos Japan
