In 1683, at the age of 25, Léon Lalande, a composer active during the French Baroque period, was taken on by the "Sun King" Louis XIV as his court musician and quickly became one of his favorites. Over the course of forty years, the king placed his trust in Leland and included him in the consultation process for the construction of the new royal chapel. He also revered the king and they had a good relationship with each other. In this album, the magnificent "Grand Motet" (a large motet with orchestral and chamber accompaniment) that Leland composed for the new Chapelle Royale and the Te Deum are performed by Le Poème Armonique led by Dumestre at the place associated with the work, bringing timeless emotion to the audience.
