Description:

<The original VERVE release from 1966 by Cal Jader, an unparalleled vibraphonist, is now available in Japan with an Obi commentary by All Days Records. *This is a normal imported domestic version with obi commentary, without the paper jacket. Jader's works have been reissued one after another, and a considerable number of domestic releases have been made. The majority of his works can be heard on CDs. Gone are the days when Latin jazz's ogre children would one-sidedly impose their prejudices in the name of criticism from above. This is a chic chef who has a great love for both jazz and Latin music, and cooks up some of the greatest tunes with a great sense of melody and a cool tone. Jader's specialties are aimed at all current and future fans of music without prejudice. Soul Burst" was originally released on the Verve label in 1966 and is now available on CD.It has never been released in Japan. Or rather, I don't think his verve recordings were ever released as domestic pressings in the analog era. ~ Recorded at Rudy Van Gelder Studios in Inglewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Jader plays the cabasa (an instrument that originated in South America. He also seems to play the cabasa (an instrument of South American origin that makes sounds similar to maracas and sorobans) and timbales. The voice part is performed mainly by Carlos Patato Valdez. I also have a feeling that the flute player may have overdubbed the parts that appear in the ensemble at other times during his playing. The title "Soul Burst" is clearly an allusion to the album "Soul Sauce," released the year before, which reached #8 on the R&B charts and #52 overall. The producer was the master Creed Taylor. The album is a joyful, fun, and profound sound that is typical of his passion for the "popularization of jazz". ~From the commentary
