The French composer Dalwimard was active during the turbulent period of wars, revolutions, and Napoleon's rule. Marie Antoinette, the wife of Louis XVI, was an excellent harpist, and the harps made for her are so popular that they are still in existence as of 2017. Naturally, many works for harp were written, with the three sonatas by Dalwimard being the most popular.
