Mezzo-soprano Mitsuko Shirai, described by the prestigious German music magazine STERN as "the first lady of song", will celebrate her 70th birthday (May 28, 2017) with an album of three previously unreleased works. This album, released to commemorate her 70th birthday (May 28, 2017), includes three previously unreleased works, which again showcase the variety of her repertoire, as she has always enjoyed performing rare and rarely performed works, especially in Germany. The works on this program include avant-garde songs by the modern Italian composer Maripiero and the Mexican composer Carrillo, known as a composer of microtonal music, as well as the final movement of Mahler's "Ode to the Earth. Shirai perfectly sings these three works of different character, recorded in 1984/1972/1999.
