[The Bruckner "Romantic" on this disc was Günter Wandt's last recording with the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra in October and November 2001. In October and November 2001, at the age of 89, Wandt gave three Hamburg subscription concerts featuring Bruckner's "Romantic" to the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra, followed by tours of his hometown Wuppertal and Frankfurt, where he received great acclaim. The performance on this disc was recorded at the Hamburg subscription concert, and is the final performance of the life of Vandt, a man who devoted himself to music. The beautiful "Swan Song" is a perfect combination of precision and freedom, and seems to complete the master's career. Super HiFi CD specification / Oto-Shou label specification.
