The album features Abe’s new work for organ and orchestra, “Harmony of the Wind” (world premiere), as well as Saint-Saëns’s famous piece “With Organ.” The organ is played by Gaku Kondo, a college classmate of Abe’s who, as the hall’s organist, knows “LUCY” inside and out. Not only in his own compositions but also in *With Organ*, Abe exquisitely controls the orchestral balance, taking into account that the organ is the star of the concert, allowing listeners to fully appreciate a sound that thoroughly pursues the magnificent effect of the organ and orchestra resonating in perfect harmony. “Harmony of the Wind” is a work for organ and orchestra consisting of Chapter 1: “Fragrant Breeze,” Chapter 2: “Calm,” and Chapter 3: “Wind and Clouds.” “Organ” is called “fūkin” in Japanese, and “mutsubu” is an archaic term meaning “to interact closely.” In this work, I likened the organ to “wind” and attempted to depict, in a chronological three-chapter structure, the interaction between the city of Yokohama (the orchestra), which changes with the times, and the wind (the organ), which has always watched over it.
