A 2026 release by Pablo Murhiel, a pianist and composer born in La Plata, Argentina, who is currently based in Paris. In stark contrast to his progressive modern tango works—which have been hailed as the leading voice of the “Next Diego Scissi”—this album is a solo piano piece that evokes a sense of stillness. According to Murhiel, the title “Sirocco” refers to a warm wind blowing from the south, one that originates in the desert and sweeps across continents, oceans, and even through our very bodies. Named after the sirocco—which carries fine dust that weighs down the air and blurs both sight and sound—this album is, for him, a reflection of our times. “Moments of friction, movement, and uncertainty. A space where our points of reference are fading, yet where something still attempts to break through. In that haze, I want to create a way to listen and linger there for an instant. To slow down, to ask questions, to be silent. I hope this album encourages us to listen to the things that do not scream, the things that rustle, the things that fade away, and the things that quietly resist on the margins. To rediscover, within art, a space that speaks to us and allows us to exist more fully.
