Description:

This is the third volume of a major project launched in 2022 to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth and 25th anniversary of the death of Sir Georg Solti, the conductor who was responsible for the first ever recording of the complete studio recording of Wagner's great work "Ring of the Nibelung". The first ever complete studio recording of "Ring of the Nibelung," completed by Scholte between 1958 and 1965, will be released in four works at any time! The singers, orchestra, performances, recordings, etc., are all still the best and most enduring recordings ever made, more than half a century after they were recorded.
This 2022 remastered edition uses DSD masters produced in 2022 from the original 1958 stereo master tapes. Directed by Andrew Wedman, formerly of Emil Berliner Studios, the tapes were adjusted with a Studer A820 machine, a Weiss analog-to-digital converter, and a proprietary workstation that records the output. Some of the 38 original master tapes, the oldest of which were 65 years old and in need of editorial repair and oxide stripping, were successfully restored by baking the tapes in poor condition at 55°C for 10 hours, and mastered anew at a high resolution of 24bit/192kHz.
Mastering was performed by DECCA engineer Philip Siney, who trained under engineer Jimmy Locke, who was involved in the original recording sessions in 1964 and 1965 and supervised two transfers in 1984 and 1997. For tape hiss and noise removal, sophisticated tools such as iZotope RX-9 and CEDAR Retouch, which are far more effective and less invasive than previous programs, are used, allowing the brilliant overtones of the Vienna Philharmonic's brass and strings to be heard as never before.
The Japanese edition only comes with a green color label coat, a three-sided case with the original LP jacket, and a booklet with bilingual lyrics.
