Musica Antiqua Latina/Bologna Corelli - "Musica Antiqua Latina," a collection of trio sonata form works by Corelli and his successors, was founded in 2000 by baroque cellist Giordano Antonelli (who studied with Ivan Monighetti and is currently principal cellist of Il Giardino Armonico The group was founded in 2000 by baroque cellist Giordano Antonelli, who studied under Ivan Monighetti and is currently principal cellist at Il Giardino Armonico. Specializing in Baroque and Pre-Classical music, the group has received high acclaim for its discovery and performance of various unpublished programs. This album, their debut with Harmonia Mundi, features trio sonatas by Corelli (1653-1713), an Italian composer and violinist who represented the middle baroque period, and other composers who inherited his violin playing and compositional techniques. The program is centered on trio sonatas by Corelli (1653-1713) and composers who inherited his violin technique and composition. The works of D. Gabrielli, who was instrumental in the development of instrumental music, are also included in the program, with the most recent interpretations based on the advice of the Museum of Rome and researchers.
