THE TAIL"! Born in the U.K. in 1967, the band became very popular as a lyrical and theatrical progressive rock band in the 70's. Later in the 80's, the band rose to the top of the music scene as a globally popular band with a strong pop element. Genesis is one of the most popular rock bands in the U.K., and has been praised as one of the top five progressive rock bands of all time. The band was highly acclaimed by prog rock fans as part of the golden age of British progressive rock, and then later expanded into pop music and captured the hearts of a wide range of music fans with their songs reaching the top of the charts. They are a rare example of a band that has followed a very unique path. The early Genesis, with Peter Gabriel, the first and most charismatic vocalist of the band, the mid Genesis, with Phil Collins taking over the vocal duties after Peter Gabriel left the band, and the late 70's, when the band became a three-piece, bringing more pop elements into the band and creating a world-class rock band that was a hit on the charts. They have always been at the forefront of the rock scene, changing their lineup and changing their music, and have released 15 studio albums, 6 live albums, and many compilation albums throughout their career.
