Michelangeli gave ten recitals here. This recording is one of the most highly anticipated by fans who can enjoy an all-Chopin concert given by Michelangeli at the height of his powers. This CD was originally made for distribution to interested parties and was not released to the general public. In 2000, the sound was discovered in the archives, and after being checked by Mrs. Michelangeli and Michelangeli's staff, it was released on CD. It was released to the general public in 2007 and was highly acclaimed, including being selected as a special edition by Record Geijutsu magazine. The CD was previously imported in limited quantities and has become a rarity, so we are very pleased to be able to offer it to the general public.Includes commentary in Japanese and English and a message from the president of DIAPASON. From the Japanese liner notes by Xu GuangjunIt can only be said that what Michelangeli is playing here is markedly different from the kind of music we associate with Chopin. From the very beginning of the "Fantasy in F minor," the rhythmic precision and clarity are remarkable. There is not a trace of Northern European fog, darkness, or fantasy. Michelangeli makes every sound and movement palpable. Each note is clearly visible as if illuminated by the bright light of the Mediterranean Sea. It even gives you the illusion that you are listening to Haydn's sonata. However, if you listen carefully, you will notice that even in this brightness, there are subtle and exquisite shades.
