Italian guitarist Carlo Fierens, who was taught by his father Guillermo, an international guitarist, and whose skills were highly praised by the master Riccardo Iznaola. This is the fifth volume of a grand project to cover the complete works of Napoleon Costes, a 19th century French guitar master who left a decisive mark on both guitar repertoire and technique. The works in this volume, entitled "Souvenirs," are simple selections from three different collections, highlighting the consistency of Costes' style and compositions. Again on this album, Fierens uses a special seven-string guitar that was tailored to Kost's artistic needs. Kost's style, which appeals to all lovers of Romantic music, combines very high technical demands with deep expressive power and exhibits the characteristics of the most famous composers of the time, from Liszt to Chopin, from Berlioz to Schubert.
