Sampson's recording of Cantolube's "Songs of Auvergne" with the Tapiola Sinfonietta, conducted by Roffe, on SACD hybrid disc. The English singer Carolyn Sampson has recorded "Songs of Auvergne" by Cantolube, a composer who studied with Dandy at the Schola Cantorum! Dandy was born in Annonay, a mountainous region at the southeastern tip of Auvergne. Known for his collection of French folk songs and their arrangements with instrumental accompaniment, Canteloube wrote this collection of songs between 1923 and 1930. This collection of five songs is full of fragrant colors and artistic beauty, with simple melodies and excellent orchestral accompaniment. The Tapiola Sinfonietta, conducted by Sampson and Pascal Roffet, performs "Songs of Auvergne" with great expressiveness! Carolyn Sampson has been described as having "perfect coloratura technique and a rich, luminous voice" and continues to captivate audiences around the world. Her repertoire ranges from baroque and classical songs to opera, and her recordings with the Bach Collegium Japan are among Sampson's best-known recordings. ), "Songs from Famous British Poems" (BIS SA-2413), "Sanity in Madness" (BIS SA-2353), and "Flowers - Songs about Flowers" (BIS SA-2102), all based on solid concepts and released one after another with topical recordings.
