OPETH, the singularity of Swedish death metal, is now a band that represents the dark side of progressive metal, and is scheduled to visit Japan for the first time in six years in November 2025. The reissue of "Still Life" released in 1999, which laid the foundation for the band's rapid rise to prominence, is now available!
This is the fourth studio album by OPETH, which was formed in Stockholm in 1990, and is a concept album with an 11.5 minute long song that jumps out from the beginning. In terms of sound, the various influences that vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkelfeldt has received have been widely and deeply incorporated into this album, which awakens the progressive and vintage song ideas, dark but mellow aesthetic and ethereal sound world that they have challenged since their early days. This is one of OPETH's most important albums, and a bridge to their next masterpiece, "Blackwater Park".
