Far Away from Tokyo Rockers......1984 may be said to be a complementary work to Friction's second album, "Skin Deep" (1982), a historically controversial work that caused controversy in various quarters when it was released live in Rome, Italy in 1984. The same lineup as on "Skin Deep" - Lek (b/vo), Chico Beard (ds), Emiko Mogi (g), Schultz Haruna (tp) - and an unprecedentedly fresh sound that is neither punk nor new wave. Friction's legendary live performance at the Japan Japan Festival in Rome in the summer of 1984 overwhelmed the audience with an unprecedented freshness that was neither punk nor new wave. This is the first LP reissue of that legendary document, which was released as a private disc in 1985. Of course, the same master as the 2006 CD reissue with the best possible sound quality is used (except for 3 additional tracks on the CD).
