SWARRRRM's 7th album "Jogase", which opens up new horizons in 2023, is now complete! Two years after their last album "Yume wo Mitano", SWARRRRM has been constantly renewing themselves and presenting new values, and this album "Jogase" has already been completed, and it is an album that pushes the band into a new realm they have not yet explored based on their chaos and grind philosophy. The band's creative drive continues to accelerate, and although this album was released two years after their last album, the themes, sounds, and colors of this album are so different from their past works that we hesitate to describe it in the common phrases used by long-time rock bands when they release a new album, such as "more than their previous work" or "more than ever. The themes, sounds, and colors of this album are so different from those of past albums. The Japanese lyrics, the spirit of song, and the wabi-sabi (Japanese harmony) found in SWARRRM's recent albums "Koware Hajimete" and "Yume wo Mitano" are all present in this album, and the music is very much in the "Japanese" vein. The cover artwork of the album "Jyogase" clearly shows a change and deviation from the extreme of "Japanese" passionate grind expression, so to speak. The title font, "Kogase," in Japanese, suggests that the band has reached a point beyond the phases of their previous works.The primitive roughness of early 80s US hardcore, the depth of 90s alternative rock, and, don't get me wrong, the potential to cross over into post-2010s-2020s-present indie rock and even Japanese rock. It's as if grindcore is rewriting the history of hardcore punk and rock with grindcore, killer guitar riffs and powerful performances. Innovative in its sound and classic at the same time. You can't help but marvel at how the band continues to advance so far, highlighting the peculiarity of the band SWARRRM, whose latest work = their best work yet. While the new songs are strong, this album also includes songs from the split with kamomekamome and the split "LAYERED CHIMERA" with KANDARIVAS, which was released in 2022 and caused a great sensation. These existing songs have been re-mixed and reborn as if they were different songs, so listeners who own both splits are encouraged to listen to them and compare them. I won't go into details, but these changes in the existing songs are one of the pleasures of the album. Listening to them alongside the new songs on the album will give you a very different impression of the album.
