This album juxtaposes Schubert's Piano Quintet "Mas" and Hummel's Piano Quintet, which were composed relatively close in time. Both pieces are composed for piano, violin, viola, viola, cello, and double bass, and are thought to have been favorites at home concerts of the time. This performance by the Rémi Barrault Ensemble is lively and lively while utilizing the mellowness of the Viennese style, and is a breath of fresh air to the many recordings of Masu that have been made. Remi Barrault was born in Paris and has been a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra for over 10 years. He is active as a chamber musician and conductor, and also serves as artistic director of the Klangkollektif Wien. In recent years, he has been the permanent conductor of the "Bruckner Weeks," a summer music festival held at the St. Florian monastery associated with Bruckner, and has attracted attention for his recording of the complete symphonies. Yoko Fogh-Urada, piano, studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she won numerous competitions. She is a member of the Vienna Piano Trio and the Vienna Piano Quintet.Joergen Foog, a native of Denmark, has been a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 1975 and has also played with the Vienna Piano Quintet. Iris Barrow, viola, is concertmaster of the Klangkollektif Wien. She is a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
