In the 19th century, music developed in parallel with the industrial and technological revolutions, and many composers broke away from the rules of conventional music theory to explore a freer style. This album contains religious choral works by composers active during this period. The album includes works by Bruckner with its simple beauty, Rheinberger known for his organ works, Reger's choral works reminiscent of Bach-era chorales, the introspective "Ave verum corpus" written by Liszt in his later years, and other works by composers we rarely hear about. The performance is the first time for the orchestra to perform in Japan. The performance is by Ginger Poor, a vocal ensemble that has enjoyed great popularity in Europe since its debut in March 1992.
