Telemann was active as music director of the city of Hamburg in the first half of the 18th century, and during his lifetime was considered the most popular and famous musician in Europe, and was a close friend of Handel and Bach. He was also a close friend of Handel and Bach. Because he left behind so many works, the complete picture of his career has not yet been fully understood, and even today, undiscovered works are often unearthed from libraries around the world. The three works on this album are also world premiere recordings. All of the pieces are in the German musical tradition, with influences from the folk music of France, Italy, and Poland, with which he was familiar from his youth, and the cutting-edge rococo taste of the time, making it difficult to guess the date of composition from the works. The Orfeo Baroque Orchestra will perform the work, which incorporates a variety of ideas. This is the second collection of overtures following the previous one (777218). Naxos Japan
