The Prince Consort is an up-and-coming vocal ensemble that has been highly acclaimed in the British music world for its bold and challenging program of Ned Rorem's songs (CKD 342) for its debut recording. The second debut of this elite ensemble, praised by the great British baritone Sir Thomas Allen, is a collection of songs (choral works) by Johannes Brahms and Stephen Hough, a well-known composer/pianist in the Hyperion! To complement the story of Brahms' waltz collection, "Love Songs" and "New Love Songs," Prince Consort asked Hough to compose a new work. The result is "Other Love Songs," a world premiere recording completed in 2010. The Prince Consort's idea was to have Brahms and Hough perform together as "composer-to-composer" (Hough, of course, also participates as a guest pianist), and the result is an enjoyable relationship. ).Prince Consort will soon make the leap from up-and-coming to world-class!
