Description:

Limited Pressing of the official first release of the sound source provided by the Institut National de Recherche Audiovisuel de France! Celebrating the 120th anniversary of Nathan Milshtein's birth. The masterpieces of Brahms and Tchaikovsky, his best-known works, are now back! Spectrum Sound has been releasing amazing first recordings on disc. This album is a reissue from the French National Institute of Audiovisual Research (INA). Nathan Mirshtein performed the Brahms (June 1967) and Tchaikovsky (June 1969) concertos with the Orchestre National de Radio France, both in stereo! He was a virtuoso who captivated audiences with his astonishing technique and exquisite tone, and truly epitomized the beauty of the violin. The two concertos recorded here show him at his most expressive and free-singing in his early to mid-60s. Brahms always played with Mirshtein's own cadenzas, but he made slight modifications depending on the year and period of performance, and the virtuoso violinist gives us a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Just listening to this cadenza, you can feel MIRSITAIN's greatness.Tchaikovsky is one of the works he has performed most often in his 70+ year career on stage, and there are many recordings of this work. Although there are many recordings of Tchaikovsky, it is in the live performance that MIRSHTAIN's art shines most brilliantly. This year (2024) marks the 120th anniversary of his birth. His unique way of speaking still shines brightly without fading away, and the reissue from INA's own recordings will be most welcome. This is a limited edition Japanese pressing on UHQCD. Japanese obi and commentary are not included. King International
