I believe the appeal of marches lies in their ability to energize listeners and give them the strength to move forward. This collection of marches by Hiroki Takahashi, titled “March: ‘Friday’s Curry,’” is like a toy box packed full of all the charm that marches have to offer. I would be delighted if everyone who listens to this CD could experience even a little of the charm of marches. [Hiroki Takahashi] Born in Tokyo, he studied film music and pop music theory at a vocational school. He primarily composes and arranges pieces for wind bands and wind ensembles. He also handles pop music arrangements, orchestral arrangements, and arrangements for theme park shows. He has contributed to numerous popular CD albums, including Disney and video game music, as well as “New Sounds” and “Samurai Brass.” He has also directed numerous recording sessions. He performs as a pianist, keyboardist, and melodica player on music programs and other projects. He is the Artistic Director of the Spiel Chamber Ensemble, a contracted composer and arranger for Zoorasian Brass, and a member of “Kyōen,” a 21st-century wind ensemble.
