Description:
Dai Miyata is the first Japanese winner of the International Rostropovich Competition and a top cellist. He has been supported by world-renowned conductor Seiji Ozawa and other musicians in Japan and abroad. In 2019, he will release "Elgar: Cello Concerto" with master conductor Thomas Dausgaard & the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the European and American discs will be awarded Germany's most prestigious classical music prize, OPUS KLASSIK Award (2021), Germany's most prestigious classical music prize. Dai Miyata, who has been actively working on Japanese works for some time, has recorded a cello concerto by Takashi Yoshimatsu, one of Japan's leading composers, for this album. The work has been performed by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra in 2022, with Dai Miyata serving as soloist in both performances. This recording was made in September 2010 with conductor Keitaro Harada and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, which has frequently featured Yoshimatsu's works in recent years. The long-awaited recording of this performance, which was highly praised by Yoshimatsu, is now available on vinyl. The astonishing technique of Dai Miyata and the groove of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra led by Harada sent the audience into a frenzy. The coupling includes "Four Little Dreams" and "Velvet Waltz," which Yoshimatsu himself arranged for Dai Miyata, with Julien Gernet (piano), who has worked with Miyata for 10 years.
