Video of Two Violin Concertos by Znaider & ChaillyLive footage of two concertos by Mendelssohn and Beethoven performed by Chailly & the Gewandhaus Orchestra with violinist Nicolai Znaider. The Mendelssohn violin concerto was recorded in 2012. The Gewandhaus has a "Mendelssohn Week" at the beginning of each season to perform a variety of music. The Violin Concerto was composed for Ferdinand David, then concertmaster of the Gewandhaus, and was first performed on his violin in 1845 by the Gewandhaus Orchestra. The traditional sound of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, which has a close relationship with Mendelssohn, the precise and beautiful tone created by Schee, and the outstanding technique and romantic music of Nicolai Znaider are exceptionally attractive.Beethoven's Violin Concerto recorded in 2014. Shai suffered a broken bone before the start of this 2014/15 season and cancelled the September performance. This performance was given in October after his return, and he waved Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12 in the second half of the concert. Unlike Mendelssohn, Beethoven's Violin Concerto was not well received at its premiere. However, Ferdinand David, a friend of Mendelssohn, revived it after Beethoven's death, and today it is one of the most important works in the violinist's repertoire and is performed and recorded by many famous violinists. This is Znaider's second recording, along with the Mendelssohn concerto.Znaider has been at the forefront of the violin world since winning the Elisabet Competition in 1997. Znaider's elegant, extended, and transparent tone is particularly impressive, and the powerful ensemble of Schee & the Gewandhaus Orchestra conveys a centripetal force. King International
