Description:
Frank Peter Zimmermann's second recording of Mozart's complete violin concertos! Frank Peter Zimmermann, an orthodox violinist born in Duisburg, Germany in 1965, has begun his second recording of the complete Mozart violin concertos. The first recording was made in 1986 with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Jörg Felber, so this is the first recording of the complete works in about 28 years. This is the first recording of the complete works in about 28 years. The Bavarian Radio Chamber Orchestra will perform with Radoslav Surk conducting.Zimmermann performed Mozart's five violin concertos during the orchestra's 2005-06 season, which was a great success and received rave reviews in various publications. This recording is the culmination of a long and fruitful relationship between Zimmermann and the orchestra. Zimmermann is known for his elegant and fragrant tone, and the Mozart concertos in particular are superb. In recent years, Zimmermann has also been focusing on chamber music as the Trio Zimmermann, and his musical expression has become even richer. The Polish-born violinist Radoslaw Sulcu, concert master of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducts this recording, and the ensemble plays not only perfectly but also pursues the beauty of the string music in particular. One of the most important works in Zimmermann's repertoire is Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3.In addition to the first recording, there is a session recording of this work with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Wolfgang Sawallisch (January 1995) and a live recording of the European Concert 1993 (EURO ARTS/2011514) with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink. The live recording of the European Concert 1993 (EURO ARTS/2011514), conducted by Bernard Haitink with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, is another evidence of Zimmermann's devotion to this work. Zimmermann's favorite instrument, a Stradivarius made in 1711, once owned by Kreisler, has a velvety tone. The recording of the complete work is a promising start for future releases.
