The Orlando Consort! The Orlando Consort, a male vocal quartet formed in 1988 at the National Centre for Ancient Music in England, is the fifth edition of the highly acclaimed Machaut! Formerly with Andrue Curwood, and as of 2018, with the exquisite singing of Donald Greig, also a member of the Tallis Scholars, supporting the lower voices, the group is the pinnacle of medieval polyphonic music. The fifth in the Machaut series, which has been a central concert and recording project of the Orlando Consort, is entitled "Fortune's Child," a song of the joys and pains of love as people are tossed about by the goddess of destiny. 14. The Orlando Consort's exquisite a capella performance of the poetic and sad music of Guillaume de Machaut (c.1300-1377), a 14th century poet and representative French musician of the "Ars Nova" style, will be performed.
