First Time on CDRuth Srenchenska, the flower of Romantic piano music, makes her first CD recording for Decca, U.S.A. Her biography, written for a recital at Wigmore Hall in March 1957, lists her as having given 1,600 concerts. There are many more surprises in Srenchenska's life. For example, she made her stage debut at the age of four under the strict guidance of her father, and three years later she performed a Mozart concerto at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. ...... It was there that he was recognized by Cortot and Rachmaninoff. Now in her 90s, Srenchenska is still very active in both performance and teaching, and this box set is the first extensive collection of recordings celebrating her art. Born in California in 1925 to Polish parents, Srenchenska is a native Chopin player.The talented and steady technique is especially evident in the Exercises (1956), Scherzos (1957), Waltzes (1959), Ballades and Polish Songs arranged by Liszt (1960), and Preludes (1962).
