Moondog

Description:

Moondog, a blind heterodox musician who still captures the hearts and minds of music fans today by banging percussion on the streets of New York City and leaving behind extremely beautiful chamber and orchestral works, recorded the rare vocal album "Heart Songs" in his 60's. The album was released only in Germany in 1978 (Kopf/RRF 33016/LP). Originally released only in Germany in 1978 (Kopf/RRF 33016/LP). Moondog's hilarious H'art Songs was the first release not to include his name in the title, but it was the record that proved his genius forever. A rare vocal album Moondog recorded in his 60s, these ten art songs blur the line between classical and pop music. Moondog called this series of art songs "H'art songs," or Hardin's art songs. The music is on a higher level than most popular music, but it appeals to listeners with a wide range of tastes, from pop to classical.Composed and recorded in 1977, this collection of piano pop songs further musically chaos Moondog's remarkably diverse discography and features some of his most captivating wordplay. He tells stories that can be interpreted as metaphors for a way of life. Sometimes political, sometimes autobiographical, sometimes nature-loving stories. They are always interesting and poetic, and helped propel this album to the top of Moondog's releases. 'My way of singing is without vibrato. It's the same way most people in the world sing. I intentionally keep the voice part simple. By doing so, I make it accessible to many people who like to sing these songs, such as myself and the folks in the Barbershop Quartet. As I did on the record, the voice parts should be sung by one voice or in unison, but not in harmony. This is because harmony is only in the piano part. The piano part is more complex than the voice part, especially in the canons and obbligati that carry the major melodic burden."
