Drumming is a kind of utopian community. The performers blend powerful and complex movements, and this conductorless orchestra builds elegance and aesthetics. (from David Lang's liner notes) "Drumming Live" is a recording of Steve Reich's 2013 concert in support of the Aldrich Museum at NYC's Le Poisson Rouge live house. So Percussion, known as Brooklyn's up-and-coming quartet, collaborated on the recording. Drumming, which premiered at MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art) in 1971, was Reich's first work of epic scale and is considered one of the masterpieces of early minimal music, a work that continues to captivate 45 years later. It is known as one of the masterpieces of early minimal music, a work that continues to captivate people even after 45 years.So Percussion consists of Eric Cha-Beach, Adam Sliwinski, Jason Treuting, and Josh Quillen, The band also featured Elizabeth Myers and Daisy Press and on vocals, and Jessica Schmitz on piccolo. Artwork is by Sol LeWitt, Five Geometric Figures in Five Colors (S-56), and liner notes are by Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang.
