Ye, Xiaogang (1955-)

Description:

Ye Xiaogang's orchestral works with soloists such as Noriko Ogawa and Bezzerly! Ye Xiaogang, born in 1955, is one of China's leading composers. After studying at the Central Conservatory of Music, he went to New York in 1987 to further his studies. Xiaogang's name became known worldwide when his piano concerto "Starring Sky" was used for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and was performed by Lang Lang. Now world-renowned pianist Noriko Ogawa has performed it! This piece, written on the theme of "the fantasy and passion of life," has an impressive melody full of vitality. Noriko Ogawa's overwhelming expressive power will make you listen to it! Winter" was written in 1988 while Xiaogang was studying in New York. This work, which expresses a somewhat dark and melancholy mood, won the Howard Hanson Award at the Eastman School of Music in 1991 and the Gold Prize at the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra's First Symphony Composition Competition in 1992, making it one of Xiaogang's most successful works. In addition, you can enjoy "Songs of Sorrow and Joy" (sung by Shen Yang solo), "Chrysanthemums in December" (sung by Sharon Bezaly), "Splendors of the Western Cool" (sung by Wen Wei), and Xiaogang's works with a splendid lineup of soloists.
