Mapache is an LA-based duo consisting of Clay Finch and Sam Blasucc, who deliver quality acoustic jams that are more influenced by the country side of the Grateful Dead, Gram Parsons, and Gene Clark than by the Americana tradition. This is their fourth album, following "FROM LIBERTY STREET" (released in 2020) and "3", a covers album. Roscoe, the name of the album title, is the name of their dog, depicted on the jacket, who always accompanies them on their tours. The song "I Love My Dog," which opens the album, sings about their love for the dog over a mellow country-rock tune that sounds like the Byrds when Gram Parsons was in the band. The beautiful harmonies of the Everly Brothers are combined with a strong laid-back sound to create an ultra-pure 70's roots-rock follower. Recommended for a wide range of American rock lovers.
