Description:

Keaton Henson, a lone folk-rock musician born in London in 1988, is a composer, visual artist, and poet, Keaton Henson, born in London in 1988, is a composer, visual artist and poet, and his new album "Somnambulant Cycles" will be released on Mercury KX. Keaton Henson says of the album: "'Somnambulant Cycles' is the first album I've released on Mercury KX. Somnambulant Cycles" is an instrumental album that explores the sensations of the unconscious, in contrast to the previous album ("six lethargies"), which was about creating anxiety and worry. This time, the goal is to create an imaginative physiological calm that passes slowly, like walking through the birth of an idea or an emotion. It is the calm of the night, when our ancestors would see ghosts on the surface of the water and feel a strange comfort rather than fear.It is a strange sensation of not wanting to wake up, even though one is aware that one is sleepwalking. It is the sensation of being in a moonlit field, or in a quiet, warmly lit bedroom, or looking down at a deep blue dusk from a high vantage point, or taking the midnight bus home in the rain. Compared to my previous classical records, which were mostly composed and produced by myself, this one is more collaborative. Working with musicians I admire, such as Daniel Herskedahl, Hinoko Omori, Reinoud Ford, and Dorry Macauley, brought everything to life. As for the music, the intention was to combine and fuse the humanity and vulnerability of the performance with the worlds of electronic music, classical and minimalism, and to record it in a way that leaves it vulnerable." Co-performer Daniel Herskedahl, a Norwegian jazz tuba prodigy, co-wrote "Bleached" with Henson. And "Like Chalk" is co-written by composer and synthesizer player Hinoko Omori, who was born in Yokohama and lives in London.
