Description:

Brazilian groove master Eji Motta continues to push forward on the AOR road. Following "AOR" and "Perpetual Gateways", this is his third sophisticated urban album! The third album is the most sophisticated urban album since Steely Dan's "Usotsuki Katie" (?). The "Mantis Jacket" AOR masterpiece was born! The challenging artwork and the meaningful title "The Scale of Sense", but the contents are the best urban sound, Eji's trickery is too painful, and this is his third great masterpiece! Eji Motta is a Brazilian groove master who has become an authority on contemporary AOR with his successive releases of urban AOR sound, including 2013's "AOR," which was a big hit here in Japan, and 2016's "Perpetual Gateways," which featured a splendid lineup of musicians. Eji Motta is a Brazilian groove master who has become an authority on contemporary AOR. Criterion of the Senses" is the first new album in two and a half years that further advances this line, and while the previous two albums were homages to the sounds of the 70s, this album expresses more of an affection for the sounds of the 80s. Not only are there more songs that suit the night scenes of seaside streets and resorts, but there are also many references that only Eji, a great collector of Japanese city pop, could make, such as "Sweetest Berry," which is filled with the scent of danger, and "Your Satisfaction is Mine," which reminds one of the sound of Kadomatsu during the Brakon era. Eji is also a great collector of Japanese city pop music, and his references to it can be found throughout the album, making you smile.Eji is one of the world's leading record collectors who knows and has been expressing the good grooves of this world, and everything he does, from songwriting to arrangements and choice of instruments, is of the highest quality. And the cynical sense of humor in combining the cover and the title of this album is something to be surrendered to. What is the measure of taste? We are now being tested by Eji Motta!
