Moreover, given that the piece is Brahms’s Symphony No. 1—a monumental work—it’s bound to pique the interest of more than just manga fans. The modifications to the timpani in the fourth movement, reminiscent of legendary conductors of yesteryear like Toscanini, are a particular highlight. As a bonus track, the first movement of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 is included. This track features an elaborate presentation, offering both a recreation of the “spot-the-difference score version”—used as a competition piece in the manga’s “Platini International Conducting Competition”—and the standard Splafon edition.
