Luke Bedford won the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize in 2000 and the Listeners’ Choice Award at the British Composers’ Awards in 2004. He is also one of the leading figures in British contemporary music, having served as Wigmore Hall’s first Composer-in-Residence from 2008 to 2011. This album features a wide variety of works by Luke Bedford—ranging from solo pieces to works for ensembles of up to ten musicians—composed over a span of approximately 20 years, from 2002 to 2019, making it a definitive collection of his chamber and instrumental works. The performance features the same combination as Luke Bedford’s opera *Through his Teeth* (BM007), released on the bastillemusique label: Klaus Simon conducting the Holst-Symphonietta, an ensemble he founded. In addition to a 48-page bilingual booklet (English and German) featuring program notes and interviews, the album includes a leaflet with photographs of the composer and scenes from the recording sessions.
