CANDYTUNE made their debut appearance on the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen last year, were nominated in six categories at “MUSICAWARDS JAPAN 2026”—Japan’s largest international music awards—and celebrated their third anniversary with hugely successful concerts at the Nippon Budokan and GLION ARENA KOBE in June and July of this year. Their new title track, “Consensus・SoFree,” was created around the theme of “consensus”—a word the members frequently use among themselves—and the concept of “consensus = everyone’s correct answer” as it emerges on social media and in daily life. The song expresses, in a pop and catchy way, the sense of security that comes from conforming—something everyone has felt at least once—as well as the suffocating feeling that lies behind it. Additionally, “Special Thank You Festival” is a new song by Tamaya 2060%, who also produced CANDYTUNE’s signature track “BaiBai FIGHT!”. While “Bai Bai FIGHT!” depicted “the self before the group was formed,” this new track expresses the changes in mindset since CANDYTUNE’s formation and the feelings that have emerged as they’ve walked this path together with their bandmates.
