The Kelly Brothers, three brothers from Mississippi, debuted as a gospel group in the 50's. In the 60's, they released the excellent album "Songs From The Good Book..." (ODR2004) as the Kingpins. (ODR 2004). Later, they turned to soul and released this album in 1968. The funky touch of the numbers (M-3, 6) and the heartfelt ballad songs (M-2, 4, 11) are also noteworthy. The rustic sound of horns and piano and tasteful vocals make this a masterpiece of Southern Soul, especially recommended for fans of James Carr and Atlantic Soul.
