Treasures from the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation! Klemperer's Swiss recordings. The Fugato, written and performed by Klemperer himself, is a fine piece of late 19th century decadent romance. The heavyweight Schoenberg: Chamber Symphony No. 1 is a must-hear. The unhealthy tone and harsh rhythmic sense are only possible with a maestro. It is not too much to say that this is the best performance of this piece. The performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 and Mozart's Serenata Notturna is also very strong, as if he drove a wedge into it. The sound quality is excellent for the era. The history of the orchestra shows that it was founded in Zurich in 1947 as the Veromunster Radio Orchestra, moved to Basel in 1970 and reorganized as the Basel Radio Symphony Orchestra, and in 1997 merged with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, which it remains to this day. At the time of Klemperer's recording, not only the Veromünster Radio Orchestra but also the Zurich Studio Orchestra could be found, but in this release, after consulting with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, all the notations have been unified as the Veromünster Radio Orchestra.
