The band "stim," whose members are active across scenes and genres, is releasing its first 7-inch record. The six-piece instrumental band, consisting of Taichi (Dr., Ba, Mikio Matsuzaki, Keisaku Nakamura, Yohei Tian, Per, Yoshihiro Goseki (T-Sax), and Junichi Kamiunten (Br-Sax/B-Cl), has released their first 7" record, "Purple", The bass clarinet and tenor saxophone weave impressive LOOP-like phrases over a mid-tempo, crawling rhythm section centered on an effective Fender Rhodes melody. The result is a delicate, flexible, and "soft-touch" addictive dance music, woven through a series of studio sessions, like a multi-layered fabric of sound. The B-side "Torrent," on the other hand, is an ambitious work that develops like a "torrent," with a distorted clavinet as its starting point and a tribal rhythm section overlapping each other. The wind instruments ride on a funky groove, and the electric synths start to develop in the middle part of the song, and the song ends with a sense of metaphysical relief. This 7inch, which is full of stim's innovative and multi-layered sound approach, is available in two different speed pressings: side A, "Purple" (5 min 10 sec / 33 RPM) and side B, "Torrent" (4 min 5 sec / 45 RPM). Both sides were recorded by old friend Keiichi Kobayashi (Strawberry House).The band's drummer Taichi's effective effects mix and Hiroshi Shiota's (SALT FIELD MASTERING) mastering of the sophisticated CLUB SOUND make this a permanent edition that beautifully expresses stim's unique worldview.
