Since first releasing what he calls "aggressive elevator soul" in 2017, Lew has been creating handmade yet perfectly polished synth pop, alternative disco, boogie, and soul These are the music of the 1970s and '80s. These are shaped through the lens of his upbringing as an Asian American who grew up obsessed with the music of the 1970s and 80s, especially "the creative and cultural dialogue between Japanese city pop and the Western music of French pop, Philly soul, and 'Ram'-era Paul McCartney. Lew weaves together retro influences and actively proliferates the present.Then he integrates the wit of a songwriter, the eye of an editor, and the resources of a producer to create something uniquely contemporary Ginger Root is releasing his long-awaited third album, SHINBANGUMI. This will be his first release on his new label, Ghostly International. The work, which includes a visual album component, is roughly equivalent to a new season of a drama.
