Shostakovich is played by the sister duo of Katharina Haack (born in Cologne, 1994) on piano and Anuschka Haack (born in Antwerpen, 1996) on cello. In addition to the cello sonata from their youth, they also play the viola sonata, which was written shortly before their deaths, on cello. The "Introduction" is an arrangement by Daniil Shafran of the seventh piece from "Horsefly," which was originally a suite by Lev Atovmyan from the original film music. The two sisters, whose faces are as similar as twins, naturally have a high affinity for each other's playing, and their respective skills are also very high.
