One of the main reasons this album works so well is that when you put it in the player and press play, you hear something you weren't expecting at all, and yet it has the power to draw you in musically and emotionally to the sound. The great thing about this band is that they understand that the musical content of the songs has to be supported by the emotional content of the lyrics. The two go hand in hand. To this day, Chicago is ultimately a song-driven band. It's all about the songwriting and the arrangements.Over the years, Chicago has evolved, but the core of the band has always been Robert's voice, the songwriting, and the arrangements by James (Pankow) and Lee. I can say with confidence that Chicago is still whole, strong, and vibrant. Chicago is timeless music.
